The Sling Cradle FAQ

THE SLINGING CRADLE

How much can the baby sleep in the swing?

Your baby should generally sleep in the sling as much as needed. But every child is different. Follow your own gut feeling or ask your healthcare provider for advice if you are in doubt.

Can my baby sleep in the swing at night?
Yes, your baby can sleep in a sling at night until he or she can roll over on his or her own. Once your baby can, there is a risk that he or she may get out of the sling without you noticing.

Can a sling cradle be used for newborns?

Yes, it is allowed. Sling cradles are designed with infants in mind and to support the development of their bodies and muscles.

Is it a bad habit to get your baby used to being rocked?

When a baby is rocked up and down, it often leads to a lower heart rate, they calm down and often fall asleep. Sleep is a very basic need and essential for a baby's well-being and development. What works today may not necessarily work tomorrow, so go with your gut feeling.

How long can a baby use a sling cradle?

From 0-2 years or up to 15 kg.

I myself used the swing cradle until my children were about 8 months old.

How long they can use a sling depends not so much on your baby's size or age, but more on their activity level.

From around 4-6 months, they will start to roll from back to stomach or sit up, and then it's time to consider whether the sling is still safe to use.

Can the sling cradle emit metal splinters?

The Danish Safety Technology Authority has written an article in which they tell the horrific story of some children getting metal splinters in their eyes while lying in a sensory swing or swing cradle. The splinters are caused by friction where metal meets metal.

The Nature's Sway and Nonomo baby swings are 100% safe. Neither Nature's Sway nor Nonomo have recorded a single case where their suspension has caused the release of metal splinters in the 25 and 10 years that the companies have been producing baby swings, respectively - and I think that is proof in itself.

Both sling cradles, and the included parts, have passed the strictest tests for us to sell them here in Denmark.

How do I hang the swing cradle?

You can see it here.

What is the difference between the Nature's Sway, Nonomo, Moonboon and all the others?
  • The Nature's Sway Sling is the original Sling. That is, the ones who invented the concept of the "Sling" 25 years ago.
  • Many details are different on the cradles. For example, the cords, the logos, the material and the colors.
  • Frame brackets and 2 screws are included for the Nature's Sway Sling Crib, while they must be purchased separately for the cribs from Nonomo and Moonboon (1 screw is included for Nonomo)
  • At Nature's Sway, no compromise has been made on any of the components. It is truly good and of the highest quality.
  • Some customers find that the spring from Nature's Sway is better than those from other brands

MATTRESS BRACKET
Should I use a mattress topper?

The mattress support makes the base of the swing stretch out and firmer, making it good for children who prefer more space in the swing .

Some people use it from the start, others only later, and still others never need it at all. So try it without it and see if the need arises.
